Dave’s thought

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:09 pm by davay

Sitting at my work computer listening to soft music I tend to let my mind drift and think of how my life is going. Do I recall at a younger age if this is where my life should be right now?  Of course not. In fact, I pictured myself married with kids and being happy. The funny thing is I don’t recall thinking of what I’d be doing for employment. At this moment, I am an Investment consultant, Real Estate Agent for the Vancouver, Washington area. I feel the market is very slow right now for me and my collegues. But that could be just a state of mind.  I have spoken with others who say they are doing great. Well, Real Estate is the type of job where you always want to give the impression you’re doing great, even when you’re not, for you care too much what other people think. At least I do.  Does that make me a good Agent?

To my clients, yes.

I do my best to maintain a friendly work environment and provide my pervice to those looking.  I have recently been offered a position in Insurance which at first I was a little nervous. There is so much to learn in that field, but is there?  Real Estate was certainly a challenge when I got my license and  continued education has been just as challenging.

What is my passion for work?

I have often expressed my interest in Hollywood, specifically Writing and Directing, but its a competative market. But not just that, it’s who you know, how much you have, and/or how much influence you have.    These qualities I have but always get brought down by the big “D” word.  Doubt…..

If you doubt yourself then you will never accomplish anything. I am a true believer in that.

Which is better? Star Wars or Star Trek

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:41 pm by davay

Being an avid Trekkie and Lucas Fan, I’m always confronted by this question by my friends and at parties as to which is better? My reply is always the same. “I will always stay true to Star Wars but Star Trek has better ships!” Not to diss on the Millineum Falcon, but it is true. Then the New Star Wars films came out and to me, those ships, supposed to be pre-dated compared to episode 4,5,6, looked way to aerodynamic and better than the originals.

My friend Pat and I constantly go over Star Wars saga talk because it’s the easiest subject to talk about at parties. Besides sex.  And the question of which is better always comes up. My friend Pat thinks Star Trek is okay but loves the Lucas Series.  I have other friends who think Star Trek is the “dabomb” and rocks over the Star Wars saga.  So again the questions stirs which is better?

I have been a loyal Star Wars fan since it came out in 1977.  In the early 1980’s  Hasbro came out with the action figures and every x-mas and birthday up to the time I was in high school, my parents helped me collect an ample supply of Star Wars merchandise.  Star Trek didn’t become a favorite of mine until after Star Trek 4, the Voyage Home.  You know, the one with the whales.  Then I started collecting the models and the movies. I would watch The Motion Picture on television when it came on but the Wrath of Kahn became an instant classic to me and my buddy Isaac, which to me is by far the best Star Trek movie yet.

In 1987, Star Trek the Next Generation came out and changed Trekkies forever creating a new breed of Trekkie. And why not, the cast was superiorily better than the original crew and were enjoyable to watch. Yet, in a fist fight, Kirk would kick the crap out of Picard hands down.

Today I was in my real estate meeting that happens wevery wednesday morning. I was told the market is doing surprisingly good for this time of year. Personally, I havn’t seen it. But then again I’m new to the “real” Real Estate world. My profession before dealt with Investment properties which was much different. Easier to an exent but definitley different.

Finding Investment property is tricky because you have to study the market and the areas housing prices will go up. Plus there has to be some kind of thriving rental market. Personally, I don’t know of any Investor who likes having negative cash flow each month. I know I don’t.
